I think i will do the slab technique for my piece because it seems to be the best one for making a triangle shaped piece which i want to do. Me and abby worked on this project together she did the writing while i did the drawing.
This is my in progress photo.
Pit firing ceramics is practice that has been done for almost 30,000 years, and is very simple it involves digging a pit into the ground where ceramics are put to be burned. Certain items are put alongside the pieces in order to give certain colors, which can be seen on my piece. The fire has to be hot enough to open the pores in the clay in order for the vaporized material to give the piece color by going into the pores.
I feel that my piece was fairly successful even though it was broken and had to be reglued together. The colors came out really well on my piece with a nice variation of reds in it that give it character. If i was going to make it again i would have made it bigger, and to have made the cap useable, my cap i made was not useable because i made it to small to put back on the top.
